Activity, usage and costs
The audit trail of who did what, plus 30-day usage analytics and cost showback.
The Activity log
Every consequential action becomes an event with actor, target, the permission that was checked and the result: a VM started, a firewall rule added, a role granted, a script run, a database query, and also a page opened without permission.
- Automated actions (scheduler, leases, provisioning) appear with a system actor, so automation is auditable too.
- Events with captured output, such as remote commands, have an output button with copy.
- The same log appears scoped to a VM, a user, a group and a cluster on their own pages.
Search, filter and export
- Free-text search over action, target, permission and actor.
- Filters for day, time range (last hour, 24 hours, 7 days, 30 days or older), result, actor, action and permission.
- Export everything visible as CSV, or a selection as CSV or JSON from the right-click menu. The menu can also filter by the clicked actor, action or permission.
- Clicking a day on a VM's activity calendar opens the log filtered to that day.
Who sees what
| Permission | Visible events |
|---|---|
| audit.view | All of the project's activity |
| (none) | Only events on VMs you own |
Reviewing an incident? Filter by the actor, export the selection as JSON and you have a timestamped, permission-annotated timeline for the ticket.
Usage
- Stat tiles for the last 30 days: logins, audit events (allowed and denied), deny rate, VM operations, access events and average CPU.
- Charts for CPU and memory usage, backup storage and logins; each switches between bar, line and area.
- Audit analytics: allowed versus denied per day, events by category, top actions, and a breakdown of VM operations.
- A deny rate above 10% is flagged for investigation: either an attempt to reach something without permission, or a role that is too tight.
- The page needs usage.view.
Cost showback
With usage.costs, the Usage page shows an estimated monthly total, split into compute (running VMs) and storage (all VMs), at the organization's prices. It is an estimate, not a bill: good for comparing projects and finding always-on VMs nobody uses. Until prices are set, the card links to the pricing settings.
